5. Jed McCaleb

These days McCaleb is mostly keeping busy with his space venture, Vast, and working with Elon Musk to take us to the moon and Mars.

However, McCaleb made a fortune as the main developer for Stellar, as in Stellar Lumens (XLM).

He's worth $2.3 billion

4. Chris Larsen

Chris Larsen is the co-founder of Ripple Labs, the company behind Ripple (XRP).

This is one of his many interests, but it is certainly a high-paying one.

Larsen is worth $2.9 billion

3. Brian Armstrong

Probably the first name on the list that most people might be familiar with, Brian Armstrong is the CEO of Coinbase.

Coinbase is unique for two reasons.

First, it is more or less regulated in the US, and second, it is the only crypto exchange that's also a public company.

So far so good, at least for Armstrong, who's worth $6.5 billion.

His net worth might take a hit after the much talked about settlement with the DOJ, but the Changpeng Zhao (CZ) is still one of the richest people in crypto, with a net worth of $15 billion.

Satoshi Nakamoto owns at least 1.1 million BTC, worth around $46 billion at the time of writing.
