One of the oldest Bitcoin addresses in existence, one of the so-called 'legacy' addresses that begin with '1' (I also have one, hashtag unsolicited flex), once received (and sent) a mind-boggling amount of Bitcoin.

On November 26, 2011, 1M8s2S5bgAzSSzVTeL7zruvMPLvzSkEAuv received 500,000 Bitcoins.

The same address sent those 500,000 Bitcoins somewhere else just a few hours later.

Back then, at a rate of $2.26 BTC per coin, this transaction would've been worth $1.13 million.

Now, that's nothing to sneeze at. But it pales in comparison to what 500,000 BTC is worth today.

At the time of writing, 500,000 BTC is worth 21,157,600,000 - over $21 billion.

This is, to my knowledge, the largest individual Bitcoin transaction not involving CEXs.
