So I've watched this amazing movie the other week.

The title is 'I care a Lot' and it stars Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage.

According to Wikipedia, this is a 'satirical black comedy thriller' and it's easy to see why.

Marla Grayson (Pike) is a con artist who makes a living by exploiting loopholes in the legal system that allow her to become the legal guardian for rich elders.

She finds rich people who live alone, convince the local government that they're no longer self-sufficient, have them confined to an assisted living facility, sedated, disconnected from the real world, and then she steals their belongings and sell them.

Through a complex yet clever combination of paperwork, ruthlessness and great acting, she gets away with it every single time.

As the story progresses, Grayson accidentally cons the mother of a powerful mobster (Dinklage).

Grayson gets bribed, beaten, threatened, but she somehow manages to outsmart the mobster, who eventually ends up partnering up with her.

So it seems everything is going great for Marla Grayson. She keeps making absurd amounts of money with her con and gets away with it.

However...

At the very beginning of the movie, we're introduced to a character who plays a small albeit significant part.

He is the son of an elderly woman who died alone because of Grayson's actions he tried everything he can to prove Grayson is a criminal.

At the end of the movie, right after Marla Grayson gave an interview talking about her business and how things are going well, the son of the elderly woman who died because of Marla's actions decides to takes matter into his own hands.

There's no way he'll convince the justice system that Marla is a criminal. So, well, he simply shoots her.

I guess you can see what the morale of the story is.
