The definition of 'lie'

The definition of 'lie'

By LeftFooted | bitcoinea | 16 Nov 2022

It's been a crazy week, am I right?

We got YouTuber influencers reacting to themselves after being blamed for promoting FTX.

We got other YouTubers reacting to influencers reacting to themselves.

And then we got YouTubers reacting to influencers reacting to influencers reacting to themselves.

That made me think about the definition of 'lie'.

I Googled it, 'Therausused' it, 'MerriamWebstered' it and 'CollinsDictionaried' it.

And this is what I got:

"A lie is an assertion that is believed to be false, typically used with the purpose of deceiving someone."

alternatively

"Depending on the context a person who communicates a lie may be subject to social, legal, religious, or criminal sanctions".

or, alternatively, this [now-deleted] Tweet.
