Five people were killed in the underwater implosion that destroyed the Titan submersible.

The plan was to take four wealthy individuals as close as you can physically get to the wreck of the Titanic.

You've probably seen this all over the news. Each ticket cost $250,000, and we've now learnt a few things.

We learnt that all four passengers and the CEO of OceanGate were killed because the submersible couldn't withstand the pressure.

We know the Titanic lies at a depth of about 12,500 feet (3,800 metres), and we know the Titan was only tested for 1,200 metres.

We know it was made of titanium and carbon fibre, and nautical engineers warned against the use of titanium and especially carbon fibre because they would bend, and break.

We know that one of the passengers, a 19-year-old, was quoted saying he was "terrified" but still accepted to go to please his father.

We also know that OceanGate cut corners to make the journey happen.

The CEO Stockton Rush, whose family is likely targeted by a lot of hatred considering how the internet works, had been warned by over 60 different engineers and scientists about the hull not being able to withstand extreme pressures.

The descent was done in international waters in order to avoid the jurisdiction of the US and Canadian cost guards who then, in addition to rescuers from three other countries in what undoubtedly cost millions of dollars, engaged in the recovery.

And the taxpayer will pick up the tab, as per usual.

So what's the takeaway? Narcissistic CEOs must be stopped.
