I ordered a Solana Seeker smartphone back when it was still called Solana Saga Chapter Two, here's my experience.
I placed the order in the spring of 2024, during the pre-early adopter phase (or whatever they call it) which, for reference, was the earliest possible phase during which the price was $450.
The first thing I want to point out is that back then, when I wrote about it here, some people in the comments pointed out this was just the pre-order price, not the full price, and there was a chance I would still have to pay more to receive the phone (not including taxes, of course).
Well, that was not the case. It was indeed the full price, excluding taxes (we'll get to that).
Between then and now, I received a long list of airdrops (Maneki, Wuffi, IQ50, CWIF).
I sold all of them, almost always right after receiving them (or within days at the latest), and I made back the $450 and then some.
It all went quiet for over a year, with most airdrops delivered between Q2 and Q3 2024, and then we get to a couple of weeks ago, when two things happened.
First, Solana announced a shipping date for Seeker - August 4 - and second, I got an email asking me to confirm my shipping address.
I have two addresses I can use. The one where I currently actually live, which is outside the EU, or the one in my hometown, in the EU.
I chose the one in the EU, even though it cost me $99 in taxes, simply because I have full control over whatever gets shipped over there, whereas here, where I physically reside, I share the address with another househould and two businesses, so ya know.
I should point out, having ordered items from outside the EU before, that is probably the VAT, but import duties may apply. I'll find out when I receive the phone and keep you posted.
To summarise:
- Ordered the phone in early 2024 for $450
- Received all the airdrops
- Confirmed shipping address in June 2025
- Delivery to UE is $99 in VAT
- Import duties on delivery MAY still apply
Did you also order the phone? Let me know in the comments.
