Kraken did what a lot of Americans are doing

By LeftFooted | bitcoinea | 22 Jun 2025

Kraken just did something a lot of Americans have been doing since 2020.

The crypto exchange has finalised its relocation from San Francisco, California.

The company was founded in California and operated out of California for a few years.

Then, in 2022, Kraken left San Francisco citing "employee safety concerns".

The company then operated with a remote-first model, like Coinbase, for a few years.

Then, earlier this month, Kraken relocated to Wyoming, a crypto-friendly state.

Crypto is giving lesser-known countries and US state a chance to rebrand and open up new markets and welcome new citizens and businesses.

The UAE, for example, is becoming the (de-facto) main global crypto hub.

In Europe, countries that were struggling just a couple of decades ago are now putting their names on the map by welcoming crypto businesses, as opposed to legacy brand countries like Italy, Spain or France that are doing nothing on that front.

Probably because they're too busy looking in the mirror and telling themselves how amazing they are.

As for California, the US state has been bleeding businesses and citizens due to reasons we're all familiar with.

But that's a different story altogether.
