It's time to face facts - Some rich people just despise people who aren't rich

By LeftFooted | bitcoinea | 11 Oct 2023

I just finished watching Michael Lewis' interview on 60 Minutes and I'm slightly pis*ed off at what I've just seen.

He clearly doesn't give a damn that a lot of people lost their money, going as far as to say SBF's actions only affected "crypto speculators in the Bahamas".

Right.

The thing that gives me hope is that people in the comments were quite brutal.

"This is what happens when you collaborate rather than investigate. Total lack of objectivity which goes against everything true journalism stands for," one user said.

"Lewis' glib dismissal of those who were effected by SBF's malfeasance and fraud is spectacularly insensitive and cruel. To characterise those who lost their hard earned as "crypto speculators in the Bahamas" speaks volumes about his character, or lack thereof," another said.

And my personal favourite.

"Michael Lewis is that special type of intellectual who is so put off by regular people that he could all but indulge in watching their collective suffering so that he can stroke himself at their pain."

That hit the nail right in the head.

Some rich people simply grow to despise people who aren't rich. Do what you will with that information.

You can watch the full interview here.

Some people in the comments also said 'shame on 60 Minutes' for giving this guy a platform.

But I disagree, partly because freedom of speech applies to everyone including people we dislike, otherwise it's not freedom of speech at all.

But mostly I disagree because that way, we gave Mr Lewis a way to expose what kind of a callous person he is.
