It happened once again.
A bitcoin user accidentally paid a fortune in fees for a transaction.
It seems that this person apparently confused sat/vB (fee per byte) with total satoshis.
Which is a bit like thinking you're paying 60,000 cents whereas you're actually paying 60,000 dollars. Actually no, that's worse. But anyway, you get the gist.
More or less.
Anyway, that's what this person paid in fees.
The transaction was for 0.48 BTC, around $37,770 at the time, and ended up spending 0.78 BTC, nearly double the amount, in fees.
It's not the first time, either.
This sort of thing happens regularly.
Perhaps infrequently. But regularly.
The only (and best) thing we can do is to learn from other people's mistakes.
Always quadruple check.
