Gimme a second, I gotta wear my Wikipedia hat. Here goes: with a population of 330 mln people, the U.S. is the third most populous country in the world. But I wasn't born in the U.S. and like most people who grew up on the other side of the Pond, America has mostly influenced me through what geopolitical experts call 'soft power'.
Movies, music, TV shows, fake b**bs, denim jeans, RayBans. I grew up wanting to be a part of it and then I actually travelled there and found exactly what I thought I'd find. I've never owned real estate in the U.S. - and I doubt I ever will. Except I actually do. On Upland.
I ain't even gon' lie: I started using Upland because I thought the llama, their mascot, was cool. Being a stereotypical European idiot, I immediately went to California and looked at houses in Los Angeles. Which I couldn't afford. So I moved to San Diego. And I can't afford that either. After spending a considerable amount of time looking at Santa Barbara, Santa Ana and all the other Santas in California I decided I had to go to the East Coast, listen to 50 Cent and buy real estate in NYC.
Which was completely impossible.
So I went back West. Sort of. And bought a property in Cleveland, Ohio. And then another one in Chicago, Illinois.
Why? I don't know actually. I'm gonna lay it all out: I'm extremely confident when it comes to crypto. I know exactly what I'm buying. And why. And what for. And what not to buy. And why.
But when it comes to NFTs and the Metaverse? Err, not so much. But I know this is the way to go. I just know.
I don't really own anything physical 'in the real world' except for a bunch of watches and a fixed gear bike, partly because I move around a lot and I spend most of my year abroad but mostly because I know that the future is digital. It is METAVERSICAL. I just made this word up.
So when my friends moan about their mortgage or the lease on their cars, I say "wouldn't know, I own real estate in Chicago and Clevaland. I bought both houses outright"
I just conveniently neglect to say I actually own it on Upland. It doesn't matter anyway. They wouldn't get it. Would they?
