A couple of months ago, Haliey Welch, aka Hawk Tuah girl, 'accidentally' scammed her fans with a crypto named after her.
Here's a short version of the long story.
Welch launched a memecoin which immediately reached a market valuation of $500 million before tanking basically to zero.
This is bad enough but made worse by the fact that over 90 percent of the supply, according to blockchain data, was bought by insiders and sold immediately after launch.
Welch said she had no idea about any of that, and she said she simply lended her name to the whole thing for a fee.
She got sued for it, so we'll see what's going to happen.
Anyway, right after news of her potential crypto scam went viral, after being pressed by crypto investigator and YouTuber coffeezilla during a livestream on X, Welch said "I'm tired, I'm going to bed", shut off the livestream and disappeared for a month.
Roughly one month later, after not posting anything to social media, including no episodes of her Talk Tuah podcast, Welch resurfaced with a post that had clearly been written by her legal team, and then she disappeared again.
Now, a new episode of her podcast was published. However, it appears to have been a 'leak', and the episode shouldn't have gone live. Coffeezilla commented on the whole thing on his YouTube channel.
In the podcast, Welch said "it just didn’t go the way I planned" and she said her "biggest mistake" was trusting people on this crypto deal.
“I probably should have looked into him a little bit more,” Welch added.
