Apologies for the silly headline that has nothing to do with the topic.
But actually, it kinda does.
Vietnam has officially recognised and legalised cryptocurrency.
As of June 10, 2025, Vietnam considers cryptocurrencies a legitimate asset.
In short, the decree allows individuals and business to use crypto for their transactions, although there are actually a lot of AML (anti-money laundering) and fraud-related ifs and buts.
Also, it's important to point out that this does NOT mean crypto is now legal tender in Vietnam.
The government will continue to retain full control over the national currency, the Vietnamese Dong (don't laugh, I see you), which is the sole, one and only, currency that's officially recognised as legal tender.
Still, a win's a win, AMIRITE?!
