Barbenheimer box office result is further proof you can't tell people what to want, and what not to want

Pundits and experts pointed out that Barbenheimer had the fourth-best box office opening of all time, and the first one that's not Marvel- or Disney-related.

Now, that's fair enough, but that's like saying that Erling Halaand and Karim Benzema scored the most league goals ever last year.

You see where I'm going with this?

There are two issues with that record. First, Barbenheimer isn't a movie, it's an internet meme. It's actually two movies.

So what's point of saying that two movies broke a record that's usually reserved for one movie, not two or three paired together.

The second issue is that Barbie did much better than Oppenheimer.

People call this Hollywood's greatest double bill ever, and I understand where they're coming from.

They were both filmed on a $100+ million budget, both were directed by award-winning directors and boast a stellar cast, and both were released on the same day.

However, when you break it down, the similarities are small and the differences are stark.

First, Barbie stars Will Ferrell, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie. As much as I love all three actors, and I do, they're no match for the cast of Oppenheimer.

where you've got Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Oscar winner Rami Malek and Oscar winner Matt Damon.

Then of course there's the fact that the plot of Oppenheimer is quite tragic, and serious, and the Barbie plot is, well, Barbie.

But the biggest, most important difference is that these movies aren't performing the same way.

At the time of writing, Barbie made $405 million, while Oppenheimer made $209 million.

This, I'm afraid, is further proof that people do what they do. And they want what they want. And you can't make them want something if they don't want it.

I see this as a parable, a metaphor.

People would rather watch Barbie than Oppenheimer.

Right? Wrong? It doesn't really matter.

What does this mean for crypto? Probably nothing. It's just for better or worse, people do what they do.

Sometimes they do great things, such as Bitcoin, and sometimes they do dumb things, such as investing in s**tcoins.

And it's all good, either way, I guess.

We're just wired like that.
