Apple relaxes crypto-related app rules (finally, some might say)

Apple is pretty much constantly under fire for the way it runs its own app store.

We all know the drill.

Apple retains full control over what is essentially a very closed system, imposes extremely high fees if you want to have your app on there, plus you've got to pay them a fortune in commissions, and so on and so forth.

But. There's a but.

Thanks (indirectly) to Epic Games (the company behind Fortnite), crypto app developers will now have it eas(ier).

Apple has been in a legal battle for a while, and it kind of lost.

“The Court finds Apple in willful violation of this Court’s 2021 Injunction, which was issued to restrain and prohibit Apple’s anticompetitive conduct and anticompetitive pricing. Apple’s continued attempts to interfere with competition will not be tolerated,” US district judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers said in an April 30 court filing.

As a, again indirect, result, crypto app developers are now free to direct users to payments outside of Apple's ecosystem. Which is good news, I guess.
