Remember the good old days of free airdrops from Coinbase almost daily?

For a while, Coinbase and Coinbase Wallet were launching onboarding airdrops almost daily, and one of these included something called Aleo.

As always, all you to do was complete a couple of micro-tasks, and you were rewarded with a few dollars worth of a token you’d never heard of.

For several crypto users, that is how they ended up with Leo Wallet - an ecosystem -specific wallet built for Aleo, a zero-knowledge, privacy-focused blockchain.

And if you were one of those users clicking through the Coinbase Learn and Earn challenges, you probably claimed a free Aleo airdrop directly into a fresh Leo Wallet without thinking twice about it.

Now, the team behind Leo Wallet is pulling the plug. If you haven't been paying attention, the app you downloaded just to claim free crypto is officially being sunset, and you are being forced to migrate to Shield - another wallet you've almost certainly never heard of.

I've been doing some housekeeping, opening up old apps and wallets to check if I still had crypto dust here and there.

I generally convert every airdrop and every equivalent earning into USDC or BTC right away for obvious reasons, but it's still a good idea to occasionally check.

Apparently, I've got $0.05 in my Aleo wallet.

And that's also how I found the Aleo wallet will be phased out.

In theory, I should convert USDC or whatever to Aleo to cover the fees and recover that $0.05 from the new wallet called Shield (same seed phrase), which I won't do because it's not worth the hassle.

Still, while doing this housekeeping, I've already found that a few wallets are being phased out, and that I had - wait for it - $0.10 worth of Banano in some old wallet.
