2024 is the year I fix my instant gratification issue

I'm a watch guy. Whenever I'm not watching videos about crypto, I'm watching videos about watches.

Watches is the only thing non essential thing I regularly spend money on (other than beer, but I think beer IS indeed essential).

The problem with 'collecting' (I don't like this term) watches is there are two types of buyers.

Those with money, and those without it.

If you have money, then no problem.

If you don't, it means you have to save to buy watches. However, it's very easy to fall into temptation and buy cheaper watches for instant gratification.

In real world terms, this means you end up buying five Seikos rather than saving cash to buy one Longines or one Omega or even a Rolex.

This is an issue I don't necessarily have with crypto.

Well, actually I have it. But to a lesser extent. My goal in crypto is to accumulate Bitcoin.

It's tempting to buy, say, 2.5+ SOL for $250 because it feels like you'll never get to 1 BTC by buying $250 at a time.

But you will. Eventually. I buy BTC every single week and never forget about my goal.

With watches. I struggle. For the longest time, I've wanted to buy a watch that, pre-owned in good condition, can be had for about $3k.

This isn't peanuts. But the amount of money I spent on watches that I regret buying over the last 5 years exceeds that. For sure.

This is a mistake. I aim to fix it.

So my goal is to keep my pennies in my pocket and when my birthday comes along, a few months from now, I'll have at least 0.25 BTC more and/or the watch I want.

Tall order, but I can do it.
