Roswell, New Mexico Establishes a Bitcoin Reserve

Roswell, New Mexico has become the first US city to have a Bitcoin strategic reserve.  The city has reportedly received its first donation of 3.05 million satoshis (.0305 BTC, $2,906 at time) as part of establishing its reserve.  According to the according to the receipt that was posted on X, "the fund shall accrue bitcoin donations and spoonsoships and be held for no less than 10 year, beginning at the acceptance of this and every gift... the proceeds may be used towards alleviating a percentage, up to 100% of the water bills of all Roswell, NM senior citizens."

the city plans to have a minimal accrual value of $1 million whilch may serve as a "liquid emergency fund for up to 21% of its value per five years, available to use only with unanimous approval of Roswell City Council , for any declared disaster relief."

It appears that Roswell if front running other US states that either declined the establishment of a strategic reserve, and those that are currently in the midst of trying to get one passed such as Arizona that is awaiting an approval signature from Governor Hobbs, and North Carolina, which has just passed the Committee on Rules, Calendar and Operations of the House.
