To glide through the water, the Atlantic waves and northerly winds offer exceptional windsurfing conditions in Portugal, with an extra dose of adrenaline. So, where is the best place to relax and have fun if you want to windsurf in Portugal?

If you're looking for the best spots for windsurfing, remember that March to October is ideal. During these months, windsurfing is practiced with full intensity due to the northerly winds "Nortada". This climatological phenomenon, known as the "strong north wind," causes large Atlantic waves and makes 1,794 kilometers of the Portuguese coast an ideal place for constant and strong winds. The water also gets warmer, rising to temperatures of 20-23°C in summer.

Pay attention to the following spots for windsurfing if you want to try this sport in Portugal:

- South: Setubal

This is one of the best places for extreme water sports in Portugal. There are 18 beautiful beaches here, perfect for wave surfing, such as Costa da Caparica, Lagoa de Albufeira, Meco Beach, and da Foz Beach, among others.

One of the most famous places for windsurfing is Ericeira, a charming town near Lisbon. This town is a world-renowned surfing destination and offers beautiful beaches like Ribeira de Ilhas, Pedra Branca, The Reef, and São Lorenzo.

The coastline around Lisbon is also a popular windsurfing spot with varying levels of difficulty. Carcavelos Beach is worth visiting, as well as Ginsho Beach, where the wind often reaches speeds of 25-30 knots during the summer months, making it an ideal location for beginners and experienced windsurfers alike.
