The Coffee House

I fell asleep on the couch. I felt like I was sick. Not in a hospital, but on the couch in a coma. I had a strange dream. I dreamed that I was sleeping and in that dream, I was dreaming another dream. I’ve been like this since Lasso left me.

In my dream, I was sitting at the rusty window of the house as usual, looking outside. The phone rang.
It was Kaveh.
Kaveh: Hello, how are you?
Samyar: Hello, hello. Kaveh, is that you?
Kaveh: Yes, it’s me. Xanyar is here too. We were going to go to the wooden cafe. I told myself to call you too so you could come with us.
Samyar: No, I won’t go there anymore.
Kaveh: Because of Lasso?
Samyar: Yes. When I go there, all my memories come back to life. I remember that he doesn’t remember me. So I suffer more.
Kaveh: If that’s the case, we’ll go somewhere else so you can come too. Come to Mahur’s teahouse. Won’t you come there too?
Samyar: Why, that’s a good place. We’ll come.
Kaveh: Okay, then I’ll see you later.
Samyar: For now.

I arrived at the teahouse very soon. The two of them were standing in front of the door.
We went inside the teahouse together.
We sat at a table and ordered tea. There was a whispering sound coming from the table behind me.
There were a few old men drinking tea together. I looked at them and then lowered my head.
Kaveh: So, now tell me, what happened to your love story with Lamand?
Xanyar: Yes, he’s right. What happened in the end? Doesn’t he still remember you?
Samyar: No. I tried very hard, but he doesn’t remember at all. A few days ago, he saw me and said, "Get out of my life. I don't want to see you anymore."
Zanyar: Oh my!

I lit a cigarette to calm down. One of the good things about Mahur's teahouse is that you can smoke there without any problems.

The smoke from the first pack of cigarettes burned my chest. But gradually everything became normal.
At that moment, I felt something move in my pocket. I reached into my pocket to see if my wallet was there.
When I reached into my pocket, I came across a callused hand.
It was the old man who was gossiping about me to others. I got angry and started shouting.
Samyar: What are you doing in my pocket?!

The old man got upset and started crying. One of the other old men said, "My son! Fariborz didn't mean anything bad. If you put your hand in your pocket, you'll understand."
Samyar: What does it mean? His hand was up to his elbow in my pocket!
Meanwhile, Kaveh and Zanyar were confused and stood silently. They were looking at me and the old men.

I put my hand in my pocket to see what was inside.
It was very strange. Fariborz, the old man, had put a prayer bead in my pocket. I took the prayer bead out of my pocket and looked at it. The prayer bead was decorated with precious stones and looked very valuable.
I said, "It's very beautiful. But why did you put this in my pocket?"
Fariborz was still crying. He went to a table, put his head on the table and continued to cry.
I turned to one of the old men and asked, "Why is he crying?"
He said, "You look like his son. This prayer bead belonged to his son. His son used to pray with this prayer bead."
Samyar: Where is his son now?
Old man: His son has been dead for several years. Because you look like his son, he wanted to give you this rosary. But he couldn't tell you directly.

I went to Fariborz. I sat on the ground and put my hand on his knee. I started crying unconsciously. I told him with tears, "Don't be upset. I'm praying for your son with this rosary. It was my mistake. I thought wrong about you."
And right at that moment, I woke up.

After that, Theodore came to me and asked, "Samiar, what happened?"

I told him everything about my dream.
Samiar: Do you think this dream has any meaning?
Theodore: Yes, this dream means that God will open the doors of His mercy to you. You will be saved from this situation.
Samiar: May God hear from you! Does that mean it's really possible?
Theodore: Yes, why not? God never abandons His servant.

After this conversation, I felt like all these scenes were repetitive. I have seen all this before and now it is repeating itself again. It felt like time was frozen.

After this feeling, Kaveh called me.
Kaveh: "Samiar, how are you? How are you?"
Samyar: "Thank you, I am fine."
Kaveh: "Are you telling the truth?"
Samyar: "No, Kaveh, since they kicked me out of the house, everything has gotten worse."
Kaveh: "If you don't have a place to stay, you can come to me."
Samyar: "No, thank you."
Kaveh: "So you have a place to stay?"
Samyar: "Yes, I have gone to Theodore's."
Kaveh: "Oh, so it is fine."
Samyar: "Yes, everything is normal."
Kaveh: "It is fine. I just called to see how you are. Xanyar said you are not fine."
Samyar: "Yeah, but I'm better now."
Kaveh: "Okay."

After this call, I went to the wooden cafe. I started thinking. What's wrong with me? Why do all my efforts end in failure?

I was lost in my thoughts when Mr. Turkashvand entered the cafe. He was looking at me and writing something in his brown notebook. Maybe he was writing a list of my misfortunes.

He didn’t react. It was as if he was getting inspiration from my face to write his book.

I don’t know why I get negative energy from this man. Maybe it’s because of the fights in our house. Anyway, I never dared to be friends with him.

I’m an introvert. I don’t like to get too close to anyone.

Before coming here, Nekisa called me. She said she wanted to see me. I tried to run away from her, but I couldn’t. I had to listen to her. I can’t stand hearing about bad things anymore.

On the phone, Nekisa said that Behdad, her husband, had left her.

He arrived himself.

Nekisa: Hello Samyar, how are you?

Samyar: Hi Nekisa, how are you? What's up again?
Nekisa: Nothing, as always, it's about Behdad.
Samyar: Oh my, why is this man not good?
Nekisa: I don't know what to do.
Samyar: Is he still with that girl? What was her name? I think it was Negin!
Nekisa: Yes, the same Negin. Ever since she came into my life, she's ruined everything.
Samyar: It's okay. At least she remembers you!
Nekisa: How?
Samyar: Because Lalmand doesn't remember me anymore.
Nekisa: Boy, your situation is worse than mine!
Samyar: What can I say.
Nekisa: I didn't think your situation was this bad.

After that, his words became incomprehensible to me. I just nodded my head and confirmed his words. I kept my eyes on the clock, which showed 3 o'clock. It was as if the hands of the clock were locked and wouldn’t move.
I started playing with the coffee cup on the table. I wanted these moments with Nekisa to end sooner.

After hearing Nekisa’s moans, I went outside for a walk.
My legs no longer had the strength for this life.
There was a black bench near the square. Sometimes I go there to watch people. I sit on the bench and think about what kind of life everyone has. If there aren’t many people there, I imagine them in my mind. I think about what kind of animal each one looks like.

I think most of them look like worms. Because every time I go there, I feel like they’re squirming around like earthworms for a bite of bread.

Today I saw a strange man who caught my attention. I don’t know if he was crazy or had another intention.
He was holding a book in his hand. He was holding the book like a gun and pointing it at people. He made a "boom boom" sound with his mouth. After each sound, he would smile strangely and continue on his way.

For me, who loves to watch people, this man was strange. He was either crazy, or he had a problem in his life.

One of my problems is that I always think: maybe someone who seems crazy is not crazy. Maybe he has taken the right path. But because his behavior is different from ours, we call him crazy. Maybe what he did was right.

After that, Kaveh called me.
Kaveh: Hello, friend, how are you? Are you okay?
Samyar: Hello, thank you, I'm fine. How are you, Kaveh?
Kaveh: I'm fine. I asked Xanyar about you. He said that he hasn't been feeling well for a few days.
Samyar: No, it's not a big deal. I'll get better.
Kaveh: No, friend, it's clear from your voice that you're not feeling well. Get up and come to the cafe so we can talk. It shouldn't be bad!
Samyar: But you know, I was just at the cafe with someone.
Kaveh: It doesn't matter. I'm coming now. You're my guest.
Samyar: No, don't worry.
Kaveh: Come to the wooden cafe in ten minutes.

When I tried to say that I was just there, he hung up. So he didn't let me say that I didn't want to go back to the cafe.
After I went to the cafe and saw Kaveh, I was very happy. I told him the whole story.
After that, I took a cigarette out of my pocket and lit it. I listened to Kaveh's words.
What I found interesting was the cafe clock. It seemed to be on 3 o'clock.
I asked the cafe manager:
Samyar: Excuse me...
Cafe manager: Yes, please.
Samyar: Is the clock lying on the wall?
Cafe manager: No, sir, the battery of the clock was changed just a week ago.
Samyar: Okay, thank you.
Cafe Manager: Please.

I didn’t tell him that I was in this same cafe half an hour ago and the clock wasn’t moving. Maybe it was just my imagination.

After meeting Kaveh, I left the cafe. It was night. The street lights were turning on and off. One of them was on and blinking.
