I haven't been to our house in the Lublin region for a long time, over three years. During this time, his mother-in-law took care of him, and a lot changed. Whenever I came to a house in the countryside, my main task was to mow the grass and get rid of unwanted bushes and trees.

Dawno nie było mnie w naszym domku na lubelszczyźnie, bo ponad trzy lata. Przez ten czas opiekowała się nim teściowa, i wiele się zmieniło. Zawsze gdy przyjeżdżałem do domu na wsi, to podstawowym zajęciem było wykoszenie trawy i pozbycie się niechcianych krzewów i drzew.

This year was completely different, because the garden looked beautiful. Several species of flowers that had never been sown appeared in my garden. The view is so nice that I decided not to cut anything this year. It's wild and natural, and also healthy, and let it stay that way.

W tym roku było zupełnie inaczej, ponieważ ogród wyglądał pięknie, Kilka gatunków kwiatów nigdy na sianych pojawiło się w moim ogrodzie. Widok jest na tyle ładny, że postanowiłem nie ścinać w tym roku nic. Jest dziko i naturalnie, a w dodatku zdrowo i niech tak zostanie.

One of the surprises is the appearance of a plant called Lemongrass, also called Judas Silverworts. This name comes from the shape of the seeds that are produced after flowering. Interestingly, the seeds appear at the same time as the flowers.

Jedna z niespodzianek jest pojawienie się rośliny o nazwie Miesięcznica roczna, zwana również Judaszowe srebrniki. Nazwa ta pochodzi od kształtu nasion jakie powstają po przekwitaniu. Co ciekawe, nasiona są równocześnie z kwiatami.

The plant has its roots in southern Europe, but it also appears in Poland. It is a biennial plant that grows up to 1 m in height, which I can confirm because there are such specimens in my garden.

Roślina ma swoje korzenie na południu Europy, ale pojawia się również w Polsce. Jest rośliną dwuletnią dorastającą nawet do 1 m wysokości, co jestem w stanie potwierdzić, bo takie egzemplarze występują w moim ogrodzie.

It is a melliferous plant with beautiful purple four-petal flowers and a strong, pleasant smell. It appears in May, but this year it was already in mid-April. It likes fertile and moist soil and slightly shaded places.

To roślina miododajna o pięknych fioletowych czteropłatkowych kwiatach i silnym ładnym zapachu. Pojawia się w maju, ale w tym roku była już w połowie kwietnia. Lubi żyzną i wilgotną glebę i nieco ocienione miejsca.

Its seeds are very characteristic, which in autumn resemble round silver circles similar to coins, hence the name Judas silver coins.

Bardzo charakterystyczne są jej nasiona, które jesienią przypominają okrągłe srebrzyste okręgi podobne do monet, stąd też nazwa Judaszowe srebrniki.

They are used in floristry to compose beautiful bouquets of dried flowers.

Wykorzystuje się je we florystyce do komponowania przepięknych bukietów z suszonych kwiatów.

The plant also has medicinal properties. You can make tinctures or juices from the flowers and leaves. They constitute a choleretic agent. It is recommended for pancreatic, liver and duodenal cancers, it is antibacterial and has anti-atherosclerotic properties.

Roślina posiada również właściwości leczniecze. Z kwiatów i liści można robić nalewki lub soki. Stanowią one środek żółciopędny. Zalecana jest przy rakach trzustki, wątroby, dwunastnicy, jest antybakteryjna, i działa przeciwmiażdżycowo.

Monthly cabbage belongs to the cabbage family and is not only edible but also healthy. Indeed, its flowers have a slightly cabbage flavor and are suitable for all kinds of salads.

Miesięcznica roczna należy do rodziny kapustowatych i jest nie tylko jadalna ale też zdrowa. Rzeczywiście jej kwiaty mają delikatnie kapustny smak i nadają się na wszelkiego rodzaju sałatki.
