Jak zawsze - wszystko pięknie wygląda na obrazkach

The beaches around Matemwe are beautiful, vast and white as snow. Only here and there seaweed washed up on the shore disturbs this purity. However, navigating through them is not easy at all.

Plaże w okolicach Matemwe, są przepiękne, rozległe i białe jak śnieg. Jedynie gdzieniegdzie wodorosty wyrzucone na brzeg, zaburzają tę czystość. Jednak poruszanie się po nich wcale nie należy do łatwych.

Sand has the consistency of flour, and when combined with a small amount of water it becomes an unpleasant sticky paste. It looks nice in the photos, but it is very uncomfortable to move around.

Piasek bowiem ma konsystencję mąki, a w połączeniu z niewielką ilością wody staję się nieprzyjemną klejącą papką. Ładnie to wygląda na zdjęciach, ale jest bardzo niekomfortowe w przemieszczaniu się.

Even if you can walk quite comfortably, with or without flip-flops, it is almost impossible to walk near the shoreline. The feet sink in as if in a swamp, and each time you lift your leg, your flip-flop or shoe becomes trapped in the muddy substance.

Jak jeszcze daleko od może, idzie się w miarę komfortowo, w klapkach, czy bez, to już przy linii brzegowej jest to prawie niemożliwe. Stopy zapadają się niczym w bagnie, a każde uniesienie nogi, powoduje, że klapek, czy but zostaje uwięziony w grząskiej substancji.

Unfortunately, due to nature, walking barefoot is very risky. There are plenty of creatures unknown in Europe or even Asia that will effectively spoil our stay by digging into our feet.

Niestety ze względu na przyrodę, spacerowanie boso jest bardzo ryzykowne. Jest mnóstwo nieznanych na w Europie, czy nawet Azji stworzeń, które skutecznie zepsują nam pobyt wbijając się w stopę.

After some time, this terribly snow-white sand becomes very bothersome. Being without sunglasses, a bit like in the mountains, where UV is very high, is practically impossible. I don't like wearing sunglasses because they interfere with my true colors, but in this case I had no choice. A few minutes without glasses causes severe watering of the eyes and great discomfort.

Po pewnym czasie, ta przeraźliwie śnieżna biel piasku staje się mocno uciążliwa. Przebywanie bez okularów słonecznych, trochę jak w górach, gdzie UV jest bardzo wysokie, jest praktycznie niemożliwe. Nie lubię nosić okularów przeciwsłonecznych, bo zakłócają mi prawdziwe kolory, ale w tym wypadku nie miałem wyboru. Kilka minut bez okularów powoduje silne łzawienie oczu i duży dyskomfort.

Life as a tourist seems fabulous. You lie by the pool, drink cold drinks, and when it gets too warm, you escape to an air-conditioned room. It's just an appearance. Believe me, moving around the island along the beach is very troublesome in the long run. You have to do many kilometers in extreme heat and humidity, which is no fun after a while.

Życie z poziomu turysty wydaje się bajeczne. Leżysz nad basenem, pijesz zimne drinki, a jak zrobi się za ciepło, to uciekniesz do klimatyzowanego pokoju. To tylko pozory. Uwierzcie mi, że przemieszczanie się po wyspie wzdłuż plaży, na dłuższą metę jest bardzo uciążliwe. Trzeba robić wiele kilometrów w ogromnym upale i wilgotności, co po pewnym czasie nie sprawia radości.

From our hotel and from the beach you can see an island called Mnemba. The owner of this island is Bil Gates and you cannot enter it without permission or invitation, but you can moor and snorkel nearby.

Z naszego hotelu i z plaży widoczna jest wyspa o nazwie Mnemba. Właścicielem tej wyspy jest Bil Gates i bez zezwolenia, albo zaproszenia nie wolno na nią wchodzić, niemniej w pobliżu można cumować i snurkować do woli.
