Plamiec nabuczak na firance w wiejskim domu

This common butterfly appeared one day on the window curtain in our country house. It seems nothing unusual, but it was the first time I saw such a butterfly.

Ten pospolity motyl pojawił się pewnego dnia w oknie na firance w naszym wiejskim domku. Niby nic niezwykłego, ale ja takiego motyla widziałem po raz pierwszy.

It is a certain species called Clouded border, which can be found already in early spring. It has white wings with a black contrasting band running along the edges. The caterpillar that produces the butterfly is blue-green in color.

To niejaki Plamiec nabuczak, którego spotkać można już wczesną wiosną. Ma białe skrzydła z czarną kontrastową opaską, przebiegającą wzdłuż brzegów. Gąsienica z której powstaje motyl ma natomiast kolor niebieskozielony.

This numerous and common species of butterfly can be found in thickets, gardens, forest edges, meadows and clearings, where it is quite humid. I didn't have to look for this one because it flew in through the window and sat on the curtain.

Ten liczny i pospolity gatunek motyla spotkać można w zaroślach, ogrodach, na skrajach lasów, na łąkach, polanach, gdzie jest dość wilgotno. Tego akurat nie musiałem szukać, bo wleciał przez okno i usiadł na firance.

This unusual butterfly can reach a length of up to 30 mm and appears already in April. It feeds mainly on flower nectar, while the caterpillars feed on trees such as willow, hazel and birch.

Ten nietypowy motyl może osiągnąć długość do 30 mm, a pojawia się już w kwietniu. Żywi się głównie nektarem kwiatowym, natomiast gąsienice żerują na drzewach typu wierzba, leszczyna, brzoza.
