Article first published on my personal blog at HIVE.
I’m continuing my practice to master pixel art. In addition, I spent some time making a few sketches in my sketchbook, as well as a doodle that I will soon publish in a post. Truth be told, although I consider today a productive day, I didn’t achieve a result in any of the activities that was neat enough to satisfy me.

If you have read my previous posts, you know that I always wanted to learn how to draw, but I put that dream aside in search of a career that people would consider more serious.
Let’s start on this little journey through my learning path.
First, I want to show you the result of my second day in the 30 Days of Pixel Art challenge. The theme of the second day was swords, and I chose to make perhaps the simplest sword, although I was left with the desire to draw Cloud’s sword from Final Fantasy VII. I leave it pending because I consider it the most iconic sword in the world.

Here you can see the process of making it.

Not satisfied with a static image, I also made a small animation. I haven’t fully delved into pixel art animation yet, but I dare to make small animations and the truth is, I’m quite happy with the final result.

Now it’s time for the third day of the challenge. Here it got a little complicated. The theme of this day was vases. It seemed too easy at first, but the limitations of the canvas and a very restricted color palette turned into a nightmare. I tried several types of vases, but none of them appealed to me, I could barely get them to have a round shape.
I am not at all happy with the result, but I know I have to practice working with limitations such as the size of the canvas.
Finally, I show you this page of my sketchbook, where I did today’s practices. I still don’t have good art materials, only an HB pencil and the sheets of the sketchbook are not of high quality, but don’t they say that the tools don’t make the artist? So, let’s keep practicing! I made several sketches and practices to get a handle on the pencil, which I still struggle with. I relied on several YouTube tutorials. I was listening to Gorillaz while I was drawing, so if you look closely in one corner, there’s an attempt at 2D.

And you might be wondering, why share all this if it’s horrible? I have several reasons. First, I’d like HIVE to serve as documentation of my learning process and pace. Second, to learn from my mistakes and come back to them when I’ve already overcome them to laugh in their face, because with practice we can achieve anything. Finally, I would like to inspire you not to stop sharing your work and achievements, but also to remind you that it takes discipline and effort, and making lots and lots of mistakes. Along the way, develop your resilience because it’s not all about speed.
Well, I want to thank you if you have made it this far by reading. I am very pleased to receive your support. I’d love to read your comments. Any doubts or criticisms, as well as advice, are very welcome. Without further ado, greetings and success.
