We constantly hear and read in social networks, news and media about thousands and even millions of users whose personal data has been hacked and stolen, and even worse, are in the public domain. This problem is relevant not only in the USA (Facebook), but also in other countries of the world, including Russia. A database of 14 million students was stolen from the Rospotrebnadzor website in 2018. This information is shocking and disarming. After all, every day there are more and more such leaks. How could this threaten us?
Depending on the situation, the consequences will be different.
If an email is hacked, the hacker will get the name and email address. Most likely, we will receive more advertisements. But it often happens that we use the same password to access mail, maps, to enter social networks, for different sites and applications. Therefore, the password that fell into the hands of an attacker makes it possible to hack into all social networks and find out all the details of our personal life.
And also, if fraudsters get hold of banking data (password, card details), then:
• they will be able to draw up a loan agreement for us, so we may be indebted to banks and various credit organizations;
• sell or exchange our property without our knowledge or involvement;
•withdraw all our finances available on a bank card;
•create an electronic wallet;
• register on dating sites, online games and casinos;
• blackmail us or our loved ones;
• use our digital avatar as a "substitute" identity for fraudulent activities.
But as you understand, this is not the only way to lose your data. Quite often, employees of the company / social networks / online stores disclose information. Sometimes it happens by accident, sometimes on purpose. For this reason, you should not leave too much information about yourself on social networks, otherwise it will be used against us.
It turns out that any social network collects and stores our data during registration, then, according to our requests and search history, artificial intelligence, which is an integral part of current networks, creates a news feed for us, thereby forming an “information bubble”, beyond which it will be difficult go out. What should we do in such a case? Just do not suggest not to use this blessing as social networks and the Internet, because a person and all of us are social beings and we need communication, we need information that we consume and use in our own interests.
Solcial is a new generation Web 3.0 social network. All of our content is stored on IPFS and accessed through a peer-2-peer (p2p) layer. IPFS is a torrent tracker (storage) where nodes share files with each other that they store on their disk. These nodes then share these files with other nodes, distributing them over the network and creating a set of many nodes that store the files, allowing them to be accessed regardless of censorship. Nodes will be available even if someone disconnects.
What do we get when using Solcial:
All content has a unique identifier, which is the cryptographic hash of the file.
Files with the same content will not be duplicated.
Protection against hacking and, as a result, the protection of our personal data. The data is verified using a checksum: if the hash changes, the network will know that the data has been tampered with.
What we have is that each node stores only the content of interest and indexes information about who else stores what. There is no need for centralized servers to deliver website content to users. It gives access to content locally, offline.
