To you, our blog reader, who is interested in our content, today we bring you something new: Sedra mining. Some time ago we published an article about Sedra and its SedraX metaverse. Today we will talk a little about how to run a node (Sedrad) and the GPU-based mining process, which is Sedra Miner.
Mining Sedra requires two components: a node (sedrad), and a miner. A third component is required to create and maintain a wallet. The node listens for new blocks while the miner is searching for blocks to report to the node. All three components are provided as stand alone files which require no installation. You need to either download precompiled binaries, or compile the codebase yourself. The first option is recommended for most users.
Sedrad
Sedrad is the reference full node sedra implementation written in Go (golang). Sedra consensus is Proof-of-Work with instant confirmations and sub-second block times. It is based on the PHANTOM protocol, a generalization of Nakamoto consensus.
Compilation Requirements
If you want to compile the binaries yourself, you will need Go 1.19 or later.
Setup
You need to either download precompiled binaries, or compile the codebase yourself. The first option is recommended for most users.
Note that all sedrad and the miner must be running in parallel. That is, each should be running from a different console and should not be distured as long as mining takes place.
On the following GitHub page, you will see more detailed instructions on how to get started, create the wallet, detailed instructions on the commands to run, as well as the minimum hardware requirements.
Sedra Miner
Alternative mining of Sedra
Alternatively, you can mine Sedra even without meeting the requirements mentioned, through unMineable. There is a user-friendly interface that will make the process easier, which does not mean that you will literally mine SDR, but at least the program will be able to use your CPU to mine any currency that is possible through the CPU, such as Raptoreum (RTM), and will payout in Sedra (SDR). It is a very simple process, if you have a powerful processor you can receive considerable amounts and you can follow the step by step below:
- Download the unMineable program through the button above according to your operating system;
- After installing you must click on settings page;
- Now select CPU or GPU, as long as it is what best fits your hardware;
- Optional mining algorithm and software of your choice;
- Low intensity is recommended to avoid overheating your hardware;
- Default port 3333;
- Finally choose Sedra coin (SDR) and if you want use my referral code (daho-7zda) to get a discount on mining fees.
- Get started and have fun!
Note: Mining on unMineable is hypothetical, since even though the front-end shows that you are mining Sedra SDR, in reality it is just a way to receive this currency, because CPU mining cannot compete with ASICS in the race to find new blocks in the Sedra consensus currently. If you want to mine SDR, it would be better to acquire an ASIC such as the IceRiver Ks0 Ultra.
