More than 20,000 validators joined The final Ethereum 2.0 testnet

Launched on August 4, the final ETH 2.0 test network called Medalla attracted 20,349 validators, with another 3,670 in the waiting state. For staking, 651,168 test ETH were deposited. Monitoring of on-chain statistics is available in the testnet blockchain browser or in a special section of Etherscan.

Ethereum developer Hudson Jameson expects further growth in the number of validators. He called for raising the hype around the upcoming launch of ETH 2.0.

Medalla does not use real ETH and does not allow you to earn real remuneration for betting. The network is aimed solely at preparing the second-largest cryptocurrency for the transition to the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism.

All testnets were previously considered devnet, intended for developers of clients and participants of the Ethereum Foundation. In contrast, the stability of Medalla is almost completely supported by validators.

At the initial stage, the new network is supported by five clients: Lighthouse, Nimbus, Prysm, Teku and Lodestar. In the future, Cortex and Trinity support is expected.

If there are no failures after three months of testing Medalla, the launch of the first phase of Ethereum 2.0 in the main network will take place on November 4.

In addition to running the node, users can test staking via third-party services such as Rocketpool.
