I’m sure all of us have had some kind of obsession during our childhood. Obsessions like having specific toy collections or making our bedroom themed into our favorite cartoon character. I remember my cousin used to collect bay blades when we were little, later when he grew up he distributed all his bay blades among us little ones to share his liking for them. Another cousin of mine used to collect Pokémon cards! Oh were they a luxury to possess. But all this was when we were kids and didn’t know the limits to something unless being told by someone. I guess that’s how the mind of a child works.
It really scares me how in this age where we can see literally the whole world in our palms (via smartphones), I’m actually seeing adults make “stack my mini fridge with me” and “let’s stack my makeup into organizers” and all I see is tens of hundreds of the same product. This is such a quirky behavior because what do you mean you spent all your money on the same shade of a blush pallet knowing very well that makeup expires and all this will end up at the same time in the bin leading to trash dumps when it could have been bought by other people and used accordingly. There are also people who make stocking videos where they literally take food out from the packets and put them in plastic containers. One, the food had preservatives and was better off in the packet if it was opened to eat immediately, and second , keeping things in a plastic container increases the risk of having micro plastics in the human body. Yes it might seem satisfying to some people but we should look at the greater cause that is the wasting of food and other items that could have been used by needy people but end up in landfills contributing to global pollution. I know some people might disagree saying this s a harmless trend but think about the price hike that occurs due to this overconsumption. You could get the same thing and ten other things in the price of a single thing that has been hyped up by social media trends.
A much greater damage caused by this is the psychological one. These trends are making people buy things they don’t even need just because they have been seeing it pop up after every other reel convincing them to buy the product as a solution of a non-existent problem. All in all, I hope this trend dies out soon and I hope people stand up to save Earth from avoidable problems because we don’t want to be the last generation to live on Earth!
