A Day To Myself | A Day In My Life

Hey there!

What's your favourite day of the week? Mine is Friday. It is a fact that the night before a day off is better than the actual day off. Even that previous day seems so fun. I like Fridays because of the whole weekend ahead. My dad would often plan outings on fridays so all of us would look forward to this day everyweek XD.

Friday always felt so theraputic. I used to dedicate this day to myself up until I entered 9th grade. The result of my mid exams that year was really disappointing for me. There was a great difference between the curriculum of grade 8th and 9th and I had no idea how to study. Many of my classmates started their evening academies from the start of the year but I was super chill because to me, this mode of curriculum was way easier, but my mistake was that it was easier to study that particulur curriculum but way harder to attempt the exam. This is because I would always remain precise and to the point in my work but my teachers demanded to write a whole essay when asked about a simple thing. Also I never paid attention to the aesthetics of the paper because I focused more on material but I had to surrender to their demands for my grades.

That year was really depressing for me as I cut off nearly every activity from my life to study 24/7. This also meant no therapautic fridays for me. I was so crazy to the point that I skipped having tea at teatime because I thought that would waste my time only to get a result hardly any better than before. I was devastated! I had no idea where I went wrong. During this time my parents were my biggest support especially my dad. He advised to work smart not hard and that's when it clicked me why I was falling behind my classmates who were literally hanging out every single day and still scoring excellent in exams. The very first thing I restored was the evening tea and then the therapautic fridays.

Since then I have never compromised on spending fridays my own way. With the passage of time, I realised it was never about fridays or having my time wasted by drinking tea, but this whole mindset was induced in me because of society. I would often hear people around me talking about someone studying literally 24/7 having a 3 hour average sleep just to score good in exams. I never tried to ask about the results because I was sure they would succeed but I forgot that where not a single human has the same fingerprint how can they have the same brain? I tried to explore my potential and found out that times my brain would work actively. To my surprise my performance was extraordinary to the point where I was scoring two times better than the ones taking morning school and evening coaching.

I sincerely suggest you all to take atleast 30 minutes daily and a whole day in a week just for yourself. This is really important for the brain. I totally agree that everybody has different learning speeds so you don't necessarily have to take a whole day, you can also give yourself Fridays and Saturday mornings to watch a drama, talk to a loved one or do anything that has been on your list but you couldn't do because of work schedule.

Have a good day!
