Shiba Inu Changed My Life
This is a story about how I got into Shiba Inu and how it lead me into DeFi.
It was June, 2021. I was in Australia at the time and it was cold and raining, I was broke thinking about how I can turn a nifty $10aud to $50, I do remember stories about Dogecoin circulating at the time to, Elon Musk going on SNL talking about how Dogecoin is a hustle and how he wants it to be the future currency.
I was on my lunch break and couldn't afford food, since the average meal was around $18 in the city I had $10aud at the time & it was equivalent to around $7usd.
I was strolling on Instagram, Google, I came across an ad for Cryptocom and thought I'd give it a go, I ended up downloading the app and registered my details then waited to get verified, while I was waiting to be approved I went back to Instagram and Chrome to see what other news I can find on this "Dogecoin" or crypto in general, mind you I wasn't active on Twitter nor had any intentions to do so, I hardly used the internet.
So we all know the news "Elon Musk dumped the charts on crypto" by the time it was June-July, me with my experience in following Bitcoin since 2013 I knew this was a good time to get into crypto, so I did, I found Doge, on the Cryptocom app, but something was telling me to not get it just yet and do some research on other tokens that don't have so much volatility or have made it in the headlines yet, I saw this new token called "ShibaInu" aka "The Dogecoin Killer" I was like "A new dog coin that's going to out do Dogecoin?" I went to google and searched "ShibaInu Crypto" I checked their website, I tried to find their devs and team, I tried to find out if they had an active community, I ended up getting ShibaInu and not Doge due to its price difference and age, we are all familiar with how new projects/company's tend to move more when they are younger, what I didn't speculate at the time though was the whole market was pulling back, no matter which coin/token and I didn't know about "DeFi" aka Etherscan, Bscscan, MetaMask & Trust wallet's, this was a whole new world for me.
About a week or 2 after getting my tiny bag of $SHIB worth $10 or $7usd at the time, I decided to create a twitter account since it's more engaging on that platform than just posting pictures to Instagram and receiving bots comments, so I did and within 2 weeks I ended up finding an active group and we promoted SHIBA INU like our life depended on it and it was one of the best times I ever had in my life.
At the same time I applied to change jobs so I was looking forward to that so I can get some income since the other job I was doing at the time wasn't bringing in any income due to the pandemic and all, I ended up giving my puppy away for free as he needed a good home and to be fed and looked after, next up would've been my car and with the job or any job that's not a good sign so I decided to pack my bags and move on, whilst all this was going on I connected with people from Instagram and Twitter and we got banners and posters created to make our own promos for $SHIB, since Shiba Inu is a community project and no one knows who the Devs are we were going hard at it as a community, the random funny video's, meme's and accounts we were coming across on twitter and engaging with was mad fun and I was fortunate to find a group to help me mold in to the space.
I remember yelling "Shibarium" back in 2021, it's now 2023 now and the Layer 2 Blockchain is almost here. I can't believe how quick time flown past.
I'm also very grateful for the people I connected with and the ones that I am still in touch with, also thank the ones that I no longer have communication with but helped me at the time, we all grow and move on.
Needless to say, after all this, It's crazy to think that the project I ended up choosing to be on allows $SHIB deposits and bets on the platform www.luckyroo.com casino, the game play is so smooth, I've played on Demo and Real and both worth perfectly well, no glitches, no lags.
Back on Shiba Inu, it's just fascinates me that the project that got me into DeFi has close connections with our official partnerships which is Swype, could there be a potential "Lucky Roo x Shiba Inu" partnership later in the future? we'll find out.
