Intro:
I don’t have much of a background with Telegram. I set one up because I seen a lot of companies had one. Never had any use for it until I got into crypto. Now I find that I use it quite a bit. First was airdrops. Then it became faucets.
Telegram and Airdrops:
I don’t know if Telegram is what is used for the majority of airdrops or what. I have looked at a few places related to airdrops back a good long time ago and I just never got into it. I am so swamped these days that I have never got around to researching further. What I am trying to say here is that I don’t know what the Airdrop scene really looks like, and that I am not sure if usage of Telegram is common or not. All I have seen airdrops wise were either Telegram based or they have this checklist form type thing. Both of them just make you do the same things. I actually prefer the Telegram ones because they are a nearly effortless process. It is just faster to do the usual tasks (Like/follow some social media pages and put your wallet in) within Telegram as opposed to doing it VIA the “form”. It is also easier to check your referral stats, update your information, get news on the project, etc.
Telegram “faucets”:
So, at this point, in my brain anyway, it feels like Telegram has established at least some presence within the world of cryptocurrency. In addition to airdrops, businesses using it for a variety of services, and it being a method communication, I made the discovery of what I am just going to call “Telegram faucets”. I stumbled upon them after I found an app that basically seems like cryptocurrency meets Discord. It is called “Sense Chat”. Here’s a link just for reference:

There are a few channels related to cryptocurrency. In particular, I have become quite fond of them and try to check on them occasionally. Anyway, they posted a Telegram channel that promoted itself as an ETH miner. Since then I have seen several others that all operate differently. Most operate like a faucet with them providing little chunks of crypto on a set time schedule. Some work like miners. Others are similar to websites like AdBTC or Timebucks and reward you for completing tasks. The task based ones are actually far superior to the sites I mentioned. Mainly because they are just way easier and faster than the other browser based versions. At least on a cellphone. Not sure if Telegram is available on PC or not. Just figured I’d cover my bases since a PC Telegram might suck.
I haven’t been able to confirm a couple of the places I have posted below. However, I can’t decipher a motive for a scam. It is usually brutally obvious. They will risk nothing and try to charge you up front or something else similar. I just cannot find much motive from the few I haven’t been able to confirm. You don’t register a username/password or provide an email. You just message them and it will present a list of buttons so that you can enter your wallet, obtain your referral, get the drop, etc. These places don’t really ask for anything. It is actually almost the same as the regular airdrops. There isn’t even anything being advertised. I fail to see what they would gain from obtaining nothing except your wallet address and Telegram name.
The only real thing that even remotely seemed “scam-ish” is that some (but not all) require referrals in order to withdraw. That seemed slightly sketchy to me except that is absolutely all they ask for. I see users joining more and more each day. They’ve been going for weeks now. I feel like if they were scamming, it would have been reported and handled right now. I have seen people who did nothing but argue with folks get hit with the banhammer. Still, I cannot find anything that makes sense. It seems about the same as any faucet website. Except faucet websites at least usually get advertising revenue. I just look at the referrals part as being similar to the way many faucets require a minimum balance to withdraw. Just a method of causing people to use them more frequently. Hence why I call them “Telegram Faucets”. My only guess on how they could end up being fake is maybe they will attempt to charge you for a “transaction cost” once you finish referring people. That is exactly why I am determined to find out.
Final summary (for now):
I have confirmed payment on a couple of these so far. Much like with airdrops or some other things mentioned above. I don’t like posting wrong information and I don’t like sharing things with folks until I’ve confirmed them entirely. This is the rare situation where I cannot do that. I have to have help VIA the referrals. So, I figured I’d share my experience here and see what it conjures up.
Here are the places I am specifically talking about. There are far more out there. I just haven’t jumped into others until I’ve handled these:
This one is for Onyx. It gives 1 free one per day or 3 for a referral. It was the only one I’ve seen that offers you the option to provide your name and email. It didn’t require it. I had to go out of my way and enter the settings to locate it. It has miner in the link/channel name that it but I believe the daily claim is being considered as mining. The other miner based ones are entirely different. This one also doesn’t restrict withdraws by requiring referrals. It takes 45 to withdraw. Clearly referring people gets you there faster but it isn’t forcing it on you. That’s why I put them here. I haven’t confirmed them but they seem plausible.

These are task based ones. I’ve been paid by 2 of them. They all actually come from the same URL - which is a website that strictly does these - and they were the true inspiration for this post. They just require minimum balances but are all very easily obtainable.

Here is where they start to require referrals. I can’t verify them without some help.
This one is very much a brief one. It advertises as a Bitgo Airdrop. Once you join the channel it just tells you that you will get 840 Tron once you send 3 referrals . This seemed more likely to me since they had a sponsor. It also explains why to unlock the ability to withdraw hinges on referrals. Because they want to bring more people to Bitgo.

Operates like a Faucet. Gives BTT hourly. Requires 10 referrals to join.

Claims to mine ETH. Needs 10 referrals to withdraw. Is definitely as slow like real mining. The fact that it isn’t blazing fast just further helps the case. It is the one that had a membership program.

BTT drops but also has a “buy miner” option. I haven’t built up enough BTT to buy it. Interested to see if you can buy the miner out of your earnings. Requires 10 referrals + 10k BTT balance. Can claim 250 every 30 minutes + 1000 per referral.

That is pretty much it. Having said that, I am looking for some Brave souls to help me test this out. I only need 10 people at most to confirm the ones I haven’t got to do yet. I’ve offered to compensate people for it but I only tried once. My offer was to split whatever comes out of them with anyone who joins as a referral. If it doesn’t pay up, I will send some type of crypto your way. The easiest way to redeem this is to just visit the old website (new one is almost done). It also contains a fairly large list of airdrops that operate VIA Telegram. I figured I’d toss that out there if anyone wanted to try them. The link is: Crypto Central Directory
