Value of crypto

By Cadds | What makes sense to me | 18 Aug 2020

It seems to me that everyone is thinking about the value of cryptocurrency.  Is Bitcoin worth it, will Ethereum surpass Bitcoin in price.  Which coin is worth more... When to me it should be the technology that should be important.  Crypto (coins that is) were created to support the technology upon which it is founded, at least that is how I see it.  Bitcoin can only use the Bitcoin network, etc. So why do people care more about the coins then the technology itself?  Other than the usual, my blockchain is better than your blockchain, or my blockchain can beat up your blockchain, yada yada.  It is inherent in my mind that if the technology fails, so does the coin.  We have seen it happen.  One of the first coins I started mining went that way.  Bye bye my precious 12 fantom coins.  I seem to be more interested in what the blockchain technology can do.  How can it help us?  We know that a primary goal is to be decentralized.  Somehow that means, our money is our money?  I am still trying to figure that one out but that is for a later thought topic.  I have seen the ideas that have come out and that is what truly interests me in crypto... It seems to me (I know, I said it earlier) that if the technology goes nowhere it is useless.  We need to buy into the technology.  I can't make informed opinions about what technology to buy into though unless I see things like "Hey, my blockchain technology is in negotiations with this major company to host this!"  I have read all sorts of things, like birth certificates being stored on block chain.  (Wow, that is freaking awesome!)  Or car manufacturers using blockchain for inventory and transfers of inventory.  You know how many times I have looked online at a store and they have listed that there is 5 of a certain item and when you get there there actually are none?  And you know they didn't sell all 5 in the 10 minutes it took me to get to the store from my house.  I really think blockchain can get a lock on that area!  I also like the low fees (well except for the high gas prices right now.  Seriously, do they think they are part of the oilfield?).  Who is going to complain about sending potentially thounds of dollars for a few pennies?  And that is around the world and in only a matter of minutes.  My bank took a full day to transfer a few hundred dollars to another bank account just earlier this month.  Thankfully they waive the fees for their members.  SO this is the heart of my dilemma... If transaction fees were not substantially lower, would it be worth it?  If you could not guarantee better inventory, would it make the cost of the coin higher?  So is the coin important or is it the technology?  I want to hear more about innovations that we are going to be using this technology for (and please not just games.  There are so many things in the world that are more important) and where are they looking to take us in the future.  Otherwise this is, just as I read it once, a slow expensive database.  If that is all it is good for then I would prefer to stick with Microsoft or Oracle.  I know that this is more than that though.  So, even though I know it won't happen, lets all make a stand and demand to know where the technology of our chosen coins are heading!  Yeah, okay.  Who cares as long as the price goes up right?

What makes sense to me

This is about things that make sense to me. It is probably not a generally accepted thought but to me it makes perfect sense. As we all have our own opinions, I figured I would just put mine out there. It is not meant for people to think that I am using any kind of evidence or statistics or anything, just pure thought and speculation. Read at your own risk.
