This Week's Trending Cryptos - And What They Do

As someone who spends most of their day learning about crypto, I was surprised to see CoinGecko's recent list of 30 trending cryptos and realize that there could be so many trending coins that I simply wasn't aware of. So, I did a bit of research to see what made these coins so hot and why they were trending. In today's post, I'd like to share the top five trending cryptocurrencies, discuss their value proposition, and help keep you up to date on the trending cryptocurrency news.

Win Token - Online Gaming/Gambling

Up first as the #1 trending coin, we have the Win token. Win token is the native token of the WINK gaming/gambling platform. Users of WINK are able to play a variety of casino games including slots, dice, and traditional card games such as Baccarat all while enjoying the advantages of a blockchain powered platform that has low (slots and poker are free!) transaction fees, is provably fair, and offers the possibility of instant play.

The Win token offers a number of advantages for token holders, but what I thought was most interesting is that holding more tokens gives the player access to exclusive offers and perks. It reminds me of VIP or "High Roller" status at a real life casino, and I think it is interesting that they have incorporated this perk as an incentive for holding more tokens. Additionally, token holders can benefit from certain gameplay discounts.

AIOZ - P2P Video Sharing

In second place, we have the AIOZ token. AIOZ is a decentralized, peer to peer video sharing protocol that gives users a variety of ways to monetize their time online. It is possible to earn the AIOZ coin by viewing ads while watching videos as well as by uploading videos and running your own ads. Additionally, users can easily earn AIOZ by downloading and installing an AIOZ node to provide computing and storage resources to the network. In contrast to other "full node" systems, downloading an AIOZ node is actually very simple and intuitive.

Altogether, AIOZ gives users a variety of ways of monetizing their time and plans to include more features in the future including access to streaming content. Although AIOZ did experience a lot of price movement over the past two weeks, most of that movement is transient, and the coin ended the past two weeks at a similar price to where it started.

BTT - Torrent File System

In third place, we have BTT which is the underlying token of the BitTorrent protocol. This protocol claims to be the world's most popular torrent client and boasts over 200 Million wallets and 2 Billion users. Although the basic client is free to download, the BTT token provides the advantage of allowing users to have higher download speeds for their torrents. It is also possible to earn BTT by "seeding" or sharing files with other users.

Although I like to caution people that price isn't necessarily an indication of value, it is worth noting that BTT has experienced a significant jump in price of about 192% over the past 14 days, and I think it has certainly earned its place among the trending coins.

BNB - Need I Say More?

In fourth place, we have a coin that needs no introduction. BNB has long been a well known coin due to its association with Binance, which is one of the world's largest crypto exchanges. Historically, BNB offered value to users by allowing them to pay reduced trading fees on Binance.

Over the past few months, however, BNB has seen a MASSIVE increase in demand as a result of the Binance Smart Chain. As people left Ethereum en-masse for the Binance Smart Chain, BNB became not just a utility token to reduce trading fees but also a "fuel" type token like ETH. Because BNB is required for each and every transaction on BSC, there has been a huge increase in demand for the token as well as an increase in awareness which has led to a major price increase. According to CoinGecko, the coin has increased well over 80% in the past two weeks and over 2800% in the past year!

Polkamon - NFTs, But Cooler

Polkamon offers a unique take on the existing NFT landscape by allowing collectors to open unique booster packs that contain animated digital monsters. The key difference here is that Polkamon are animated which makes them appear more lifelike and interactive than the existing NFTs that some people still equate with being a simple JPEG image. 1bed067b7e8f42a70a000112a46a6f86a8e6da0fe7e372421a867c29bcd62920.png

Although Polkamon can be bought with ETH on OpenSea, the PMON token is used to purchase and open the unique booster packs on the Polkamon website. This adds an element of fun and excitement as players don't know exactly what type of Polkamon they will get.

Even though I spend most of my waking hours learning about crypto, this Top 30 trending list by CoinGecko showed me just how much there is to learn and how fast crypto changes. Although there were a few coins in the list that I was familiar with, I had never heard of most of them, and I enjoyed writing this article as I was able to learn about some interesting projects that I had never learned about before.

As always, thanks for reading, and nothing is financial advice.
