Brendan Eich

Brendan Eich is the co-founder and CEO of the privacy and content-focused Brave Software and Basic Attention Token (BAT) project. Eich is also the inventor of the JavaScript, one of the most popular programming languages, and is also the founder and former CEO of the Mozilla Foundation.

Eich resigned from his position at Mozilla in 2014, and soon began to work on the Brave Browser project. Early funding of the project saw it raise $2.5 million from angel investors - though the project quickly received more funds as the Basic Attention Token ICO saw $35 million raised. Brave Software continues to receive funding, arguably as a result of its strength of its application as a decentralized economy, raising over $30 million earlier this year in a Series A equity round.

In addition to creating the JavaScript language, Eich is recognized for his extensive work on browsers, having worked as the principal engineer/chief architect on the Netscape Navigator browser, and on the Mozilla browser. Eich’s experience in this area is no doubt a large part of the reason behind the Brave Browser’s success, which has overtaken both Opera and Firefox, and is growing faster than the Google Chrome browser.
