My shower head exploded as I was filling the mop bucket.
The plastic parts that couldn’t handle the water pressure popped out of place.
I got sprayed with the water as it squirted from the places it shouldn’t.
Who’s fault is it?
I believe the plumbing system is not done properly in my house- there’s never enough pressure when hot water comes and too much for cold.
Did you know that you could have too much pleasure?
Here’s what you need to know about human nature.
We like pleasure and we hate pain.
We want to repeat what makes us feel good and avoid what causes discomfort.
What happens when you experience a massive dose of pleasure?
You want to repeat it.
Badly.
The desire is so strong that your brain makes all the necessary excuses to experience the high again.
Unfortunately, too much pleasure damages the brain, like high water pressure broke my shower head.
This is a simplified explanation of an addiction.
You can’t stop it, even if you want to.
Your brain is working against your morals, values and decisions.
That’s why it’s so unbelievably hard to quit.
The sexual images give you a high dose of pleasure and overstimulate you.
Because of this, no other daily activity comes close to giving you that type of pleasure.
Everything else becomes dull.
The only way to feel happier is to watch p*rn again.
But that doesn’t solve the problem but makes you sink deeper.
P*rnography is not a bad habit, but an addiction
Viewing p*rnography is not a bad habit.
Picking the nose is a bad habit.
You decide to stop and after a small struggle, you succeed in quitting it.
Viewing pornography is an addiction.
And p*rn is the addictive substance.
It’s not a behavioral issue that you can fix by a single decision.
It’s a neurochemical unbalance on a massive scale.
Damage has been done.
Quitting is not as easy as deciding “from January 1st I’m not going to do that ever again!”
Nope!
You have to do something more interesting to outsmart your brain.
What can you do to outsmart your brain?
Your brain got damaged.
The good news is that your brain can recover, unlike the shower head.
It’s called neuroplasticity - you can rewire your brain.
Ask yourself: what would give you more pleasure than p*rn.
-
Is it living without the feeling that you disappoint God?
-
Is it growing into a godly man you can feel proud of?
-
Is it finding your future wife?
Find what would make you excited.
And don’t stop there.
Daydream about how your life will look like if the moral desire is fulfilled.
This is how temptation works.
It gives you glimpses of potential pleasure until you succumb to it.
If you fantasize about your godly desire, you will increase it.
At some point, you will feel much more excited to live in that dream than fall for lust.
Then it will be easy to resist temptations to watch p*rn because you’ll have a bigger dream.
And I pray that your God-given desire becomes a reality!
