Too Late

Too Late

I can see it.
I can see it in your eyes.

You endured.
You endured the same old lies.

What you thought was a friend
almost became your end.

The light's turned off
inside your head.

Girlfriends ran
when you screamed in bed

while you were asleep,
running through the maze

that'll occupy you
for the rest of your days.

Even when you find all the answers,
you're now a smothered star.

All this lost time to remember
—the soul's traveled too far.
