The Nostalgic Thief, See (Two in a Row)

The Nostalgic Thief

Although it is easy to believe
your eyes over those of a thief.
You grab my attention,
take a hold of my soul,
and run away with my heart.
You disappear for a year,
and find me here,
in between the broken stuff
that people can never have enough of.
Stuff they never throw away,
it just lies there every day.
You come and take a look,
and run your fingers
through this old book.

Children are innocent.
Old people are wise.
The rest are just living,
too busy to be giving.
The mind can only see
when you're blind;
when the eyes no longer lie,
and our prejudices die.

I compose poetry and prose about the disappointments of life; dishonest people we come across; crushed hopes and expectations; the corruption that lies within everyone, but also lighter stuff.
