The Drill

The Drill

Loneliness cares for me.
Without it, where would I be?
It never leaves my side,
and doesn't like to share.

We're exclusive.
The love of my life
lets me forget
about a child, a wife.

Till death do us part.
Thief of the heart.
Killer of hope.
Gun, pills, and rope.

Loneliness is love.
It has no voice.
Won't be turned off.

Surrounded by friends,
I heard the call.
I took the fall,
and it was over.

I can't re-open.
Time always runs
from the ones
that need it the most.

Even when I catch up.
I'll scream, "Oh, please stop?"
But all index fingers hit play.

I'm always great for someone else.
It's as close as I'll ever get.
"Someone, somewhere will..."
Well, you know the drill.
