Slump

Slump

A day is no longer a gift.
A personality shift.

Before the age of consent,
everything came to an end.

School became an instrument of torture,
and friends became perfect strangers.

Before the day showed the night its back,
the plan was already in motion.

The knocks on the wall.
Poisoned fruit, and the fall.

The silence was our friend,
our secret till the end.

Faith in the eyes of a cynic.
Doubt in the eyes of our Lord.

Water in the eyes of fire.
Grace in the eyes of a liar.

Taking the blame in hoping to tame.
Boiling blood inside of my brain.

Adult life is about taking turns.
Who smiles, who cries, who burns.

It all came to soon.
I’m dead like the moon.

Nothing to build.
Nothing to keep together.

Nothing to save.
Just a quick dive in the grave.

How I’ve longed for better days.
I’ve searched for better ways.

But nothing could be done.
One lesson learned, and now I’m gone.
