What else could Lisa could have done?
Life back at Mars had become very predictable and boring. Some businessmen who had recently returned from a business trip from Venus had tested positive for a new strain of Covid-50. Now there were rumors of another lockdown coming over the next week or so. The kids had Spring break, and she didn’t want them to spend all their holidays just being indoors with their gas masks.
While researching some alternative travel plans, she had come across the new space train started by Mars’ most famous resident-X Æ A-12 Musk, as a tribute to the former home of his father, Elon Musk. Æ A-12 Musk had moved to Mars in 2022, 1 year after the legendary NASA probe-Perseverance-had discovered life on Mars (Lisa’s family was one of the earliest Martians discovered in their family’s resting place but she didn’t like to speak about it) As part of the Earth-Mars treaty brokered by Elon Musk, he had moved to Mars with his son Æ A-12 Musk who was barely two years old and hence would be the ideal person to start his verbal journey with the Martian language. This move by Elon Musk conferred international recognition to the Martians, played a key role in conferring honorary Earthly citizenship to all Martians and kickstarted the inter planetary space travel boom that had since then expanded to other planets in the solar system.
At the last-minute, Lisa had added Minneapolis to her Earth itinerary, based on a friend’ suggestion
Minneapolis was called the City of Lakes and boasted of over 20 Lakes.
When Lisa was unsure, her son had insisted that they go to Minneapolis because he wanted to see flowing water for the first time in his life. “I will never forget this trip, Mom”, were his exact words.
Two days into their Minneapolis trip, Lisa was sitting in a hospital holding her son who was pronounced dead after he was “accidentally” shot by a human police officer.
