The Queen Of Superberries: North American Aronia

Aronia (mela-no-carpa), also known as black chokeberry, originates from North America where it was used by American Indians for medical purposes before it was discovered and brought to European soil by explorers. Her antioxidant profile is the most concentrated of any berry. Except for antioxidants, Aronia is rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

Every berry that has a high concentration of natural antioxidants belongs to the super berry category. The higher the antioxidant concentration, the higher the protection of our bodies. Nature is very smart and has embedded self-defense mechanisms, not only in animals and humans but also in plants. A part of Aronia's self-defense mechanism is the development of antioxidants, that are protecting the plant and fruits (her cells) from premature destruction, heat, moisture, frost, and herbal diseases. Her antioxidants belong to the category of polyphenols. Polyphenols can also be used for the protection of our cells.

Aronia's purple pigments "anthocyanins" are extraordinarily beneficial for the human body. They might enhance mood, heal the cardiovascular system (incl. lower the cholesterol), enhance and heal the immune system, heal eyesight, and much more.
The very important thing I would like to mention is that Aronia berries belong to the alkaline food group, which means they have anticancer properties (cancer cells cannot survive in the alkaline body).

Vitamins found in Aronia berries: A, B (complex), C, E, K

Minerals found in Aronia berries: Manganese, Folate, Iron, Zinc, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium
