The EFL cup returns this week as there are a lot of much-anticipated and exciting fixtures lined up. The major focus of this EFL round 16 is obviously the Liverpool vs Arsenal and Chelsea vs Man United fixtures, however, there are also lots of fun fixtures to look out for. Man City will be kicking off their round 16 campaign at home against Southampton as they continue their quest for another EFL cup triumph.
Man City are in flying form at the moment and are coming from successive victories in all competitions. They remain one of the favourites to win this competition again and are undoubtedly the favourites to come out with a comfortable win at home against a team that just recently received the trashing of their lives against Leicester in the premier league.
Expected formation and tactics, Man City without a doubt will definitely set up in their usual 4-3-3 formation. Pep might decide to make a lot of changes to the side that played at the weekend and will also utilize more of the younger player to get some game time as well. However, his idea of football is not likely to change as he will want any team he puts out to keep the ball and try to create chances through passing and movements.
Southampton are in super poor form at the moment and still have a fresh memory of their 9-0 defeat at home against Leicester to become the first team to concede 9 goals at home without reply in the premier league. They are obviously the underdogs for this game against Man City and have all the odds against them to lose comfortably at the City of Manchester Stadium tomorrow.
Expected formation and tactics, Southampton are expected to set up in a 3-4-1-2 or a 3-4-2-1 formation. As usual against a team like Man City, they will most definitely be on the back foot for most parts of the game and will be looking to capitalize on counter-attacking and set pieces to try to get something out of this game.
