From left to right: Jimmy Nguyễn (Chain), Craig Wright (Chain) and Calvin Ayre (Coingeek)
Bitcoin SV was created on the initiative of the company nChain, through Craig Wright, its scientific director, who has a leading role in the community. Craig Wright is indeed the central character of Bitcoin SV, especially since the claimed "vision of Satoshi" actually corresponds to his own. The other person supporting Bitcoin is Calvin Edward Ayre, a Canadian-born billionaire who made his fortune in online gambling. This individual is the head of Coingeek, the company that manages, among other things, the news site Coingeek.com.
These two companies are very involved in the development of Bitcoin SV. On one hand, nChain finances the development of the main implementation, Bitcoin SV Node. On the other hand, Coingeek organizes conferences for the ecosystem and provides fairly considerable mining power for the network, up to representing 25% to 33% of the total power.
Aside from those who support, the rest of the cryptocurrency community is generally opposed to it. This is no doubt due to the abhorrent behavior of Craig Wright, who beyond asserting extraordinary things, sues those who dare to question them. The famous Hodlnaut case was the culmination of the toxic attitude of this individual, who had caused the departure of a pro-BTC tweet from social networks. We will also remember the hateful email sent to Roger Ver after he supported ABC in early November 2018.
Threats of 51% attacks and subpoena eventually led to a counterattack by some trading platforms that brutally delisted the BSV. This screening was personally initiated by Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance, who felt that Craig Wright was going too far. The Kraken and ShapeShift platforms have followed suit.
