The 1 Year HODL experiment for Tezos enters it's fifth month, let's review the rules of the experiment.
What are the rules of the experiment?
Put fiat into Tezos every month.
Report on it every second day of the month.
Do not retrieve any money that is tagged on this experiment (I might have other Tezos holdings in the future that will not form part of this experiment, but if I report on a certain amount, I cannot withdraw those till one year later)
Try to learn as much as possible about the Tezos project.
Try to educate as many people about the Tezos project.
Try to engage as much as possible with the Tezos community.
This is how the information looks like when look at from a month-to-month basis till now, you can see how much Tezos I have bought, at what price and the overall increase/decrease in value (measured in USD) when compared to the amount of dollars I have invested. (Note, some dates and usd prices are guesstimations)
Pro-tip, I used airtable to create this excell-like document. If you want to organize info with synchronization to every device, in an excell-like format, I highly recommend you to use this one, you can use my invitation link (if you like, I do get a commission that is usable for the paid version of the product), the platform has a free tier.
New things I have learned about Tezos
This month I seriously try to start baking, but had not success. I was trying to follow several tutorials that mention that I have to create a different type of account within my wallet, but when trying to do that, get onto an error message along the lines of "you cannot create a delegation account without an origin" (paraphrasis, not actual quote) which lead me to stop the process so far.
Some community and infraestructure red flags
Another event that occur this month is that, since I was unable to delegate my tezzies, I thought of joining a discord account made by the Tezos community. And what I found was a little red-flagy,.... I noticed that the moderator of one group that I found on reedit is/was involved with dune.network, and the whole work was not posting (apparently) since the past year. Red Flag,.. was the dune fork also a community split?? if so, that's a huge red flag. Those discord servers doesn't run themselves.
The second red flag is that when trying to open a popular tezos explorer from within my app it announced that the development team was now on the dune network, which also leads to the idea of the dune social fork being of some significance.
Lastly, the third red flag I have found is that,... (drumroll) my android based tezos wallet doesn't want to send tezzies anywhere. Whenever I open my Tezbox wallet I see an "error to process payment" message. And customer support for the app mention that google play is reviewing a newer version of the app. Which is concerning, since apparently I saved a seed phrase from a different account, so, if the app doesn't work ever, those tezzies are essentially un-usable.
Let's see what happens next. Lesson learned, your wallet also can go snap and you can loose your crypto (provided you also lost your seed phrase)
How do I feel about the Tezos Project so Far? (Bullish/Bearish)
With the infrastructure shenanigans, the empty discord servers and the buggy apps, I have to say that I am in the center, inclining towards a bearish position.
