I went over TradingView's BTC/USD price chart history in attempts to compare BTC & the previous time it reached its All-Time-High (ATH) back in 2017 and compared the ATH to the lows BTC price seen the following year in 2018. Then Took the ATH from 2021 and compared it to the lows we have so far seen this year in 2022.
Dec. 17, 2017 ATH = $19,635.83
Feb. 6, 2018 --- $5,931.61
- (-$13,704.22 [-70%] off of '17 ATH)
Jun. 29, 2018 --- $5,780.49
- (-$13,855.34 [0.71%] off of '17 ATH)
Dec. 15, 2018 --- $3,126.37
- (-$16,509.46 [0.84%] off of '17 ATH)
Nov. 10, 2021 ATH = $68.942.67
Jan. 24, 2022 --- $33,191.73
- (-$35,750.94 [-0.52%] off of '21 ATH)
May 12, 2022 --- $25,486.71
- (-$43,455.96 [-0.63%] off of '21 ATH)
I'm not sure if history will repeat itself like during the last crypto winter in '18, where we reached lows of -0.84% off ATH & didn't see any relief or bounce-back in prices till mid '19. I'm simply offering up some historical data & statistical analysis if anyone is interested in this info. to help put things in perspective or use it along with other info. to create their own financial plan to help them invest & navigate this volatile new crypto market.
***PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: the environment for investing in BTC was very differnt in 2017 then compared to todays environment in 2022.***
Unlike in 2017, BTC and crypto is much more known by investors and the public (although we are still in the very beginning of crypto adoption & still needs much more support before can go mainstream). There is a war going on between Russia and Ukraine causing major financial strain on the rest of the world. The US and other countries are being impacted by inflation & covid issues. A major crypto project fell -99.9% & its stable coin went under a dollar falling -84.9%. The crypto Terra (LUNA) price was around $100 and has fallen around -99.9% to $0.0001282, & its linked stable coin, TerraUSD (UST) fell below $1, it's down -84.9% at $0.15.
All these factors plus any future unseen events may impacts crypto & BTC prices or may cause them to act differently than during previous years.
