Countless hours of screen time. Step counts falling daily. A Few Simple Decisions are ALL That is Needed to Elevate Your Position.

The Challenge

The potential distractions and pull on your attention is growing at breakneck speed. Maybe you have been following a currency. Maybe you work in the craft and are an expert at one of the skills. Your abilities in Making Deliberate Decisions is sound, although is it consistent?

Maybe you're just trying to HODL the trajectory of everything from transitions in blockchain driven social media to your current portfolio position. Either way, the need for deliberate decision making is really important.

Some would argue, paramount to your success. Personally I fall in the paramount category and I think there are some deliberate decisions you can make that will elevate your position.

Why do you say deliberate decisions is paramount?

You see, we all have something in common. We have this brain which is 2 million years in the making. Keeping us alive and safe from danger. Finding ways to further evolve ourselves.

The brain is also really good at recognizing and memorizing motions, thoughts and meanings that go with those situations. It all boils down to habits.

Nearly 95% of your day is tied up in habits. You woke up at XXX time this morning. The XXX was your breakfast. Next was the litany of activities that each and every day you pick from.

I had this phrase I used to tell folks on my team that I made up when I worked on a forest fire crew in the Western U.S. I always talking about having a mental rolo-dex. Now I know it might date me, even though I never had a rolo-dex, but my grandfather did. He would turn the dial and the names, notes, addresses, phones numbers and other important nuggets of information would flow over and over.

It's the same in our habits. We scroll through what we know and see how it applies to our current situation. If we don't recognize the current one, then we try our best to connect it to something we do know about or have experienced.

This all happens in nanoseconds. It's those gut feelings or premonitions we all think of routinely, yet don't ask deeper questions about their origins.

Ok, I understand being deliberate... Now what?

As we all embark on our own personal and digital journeys, in addition to having our similar brain developments, we have other physiological needs as well. AND, I might add that we tend to ignore them as a majority.

So here's my top 3 very deliberate decisions that you could make today that will provide measurable results in minutes.

Deliberate Decision #1

You will be in your healthiest physical state possible.

Now I realize that's a tall order and can encompass a lot. You may be thinking where do I even start. Abs? Biceps? Cardio?

Can I give you something else to start with? Did you know that according to various sources that 3 out of 4 people across the world are chronically dehydrated? If you're a family of 4, you do the math?

Chronic dehydration can lead to all sorts of different ailments from skin to internal problems. The solution is priming the pump, so to speak, up front!

Try this for the next 10 days and you will notice results. Make the first thing you do in the morning after you roll out of bed to be having 20 ounces of water. Add a little lemon or a spice of your choice. You could even do something like add a pouch of Liquid I.V. or your favorite electrolyte.

Either way, try it for a couple of days.

Deliberate Decision #2

You will be in the best mental frame possible!

Many of our challenges day in and day out are a result of our thinking and what we assign meaning to. Fortunate for us, we have the ability to change that very quickly, with near immediate results.

The same as with your physicality, the choices are limitless when it comes to managing your mental state. Frankly, it can be overwhelming when figuring out which step to take next. Don't worry, I'll make it easy now.

It has been proven through numerous studies that showing gratitude has positive effect on everything from stress levels to performance in relationships. So how do we get there.

Preferably in the morning, take out a notebook and make it the book for the next couple days. This will only take a couple minutes. Write down a #1, #2 and #3. Next take a couple mintues and jot down what it is that you're grateful for. Overall it can take less than 2 minutes and sometimes as much as 5.

So what are you grateful for? Is it the technology that you didn't have to create which allows you to read this? Is it your health or current condition? How about your family? You can write a sentence or two about any number of things.

Go and grab that glass of water and recognize what you are grateful for in your life. After 10 days you will notice something. I don't want to spoil it, so you'll just have to see what happens after a couple of days.

Deliberate Decision #3

Who's ever uttered the phrase, "time to sleep when I die"? Depending on the stage in my life I have tried all sorts of approaches.

The college all nighter was wildly unsuccessful, although fun to attempt. Rising early to get out whether it's heading up the mountain for your assortment of activities or driving through the night to make it to your destination.

They all seem to have a similar attribute when I think about it. There is an element of just being wrecked by lack of sleep. It's really that simple. Early or late didn't really matter, it was just the lack of sleep.

Here's a simple fix. Either pick a bedtime or pick the amount of time you want to get each night. Myself and countless others have tried both approaches, although I see the picking an "in bed by" time as the most effective.

If you pick the start time, if you wake early then you have time to work with as opposed to trying squeeze out every last minute to fall with in a certain time frame.

That being said, be realistic, BUT also be deliberate. If you pick 10 pm. Then stick to 10 pm. You are in the process of changing habits that will elevate everything in your life.

With the added benefit that this too will only take minutes to adjust.

So here we are...

Yes, the list is endless in terms of the different approaches of things you can do to adjust and elevate your success at work and home.

You can spend hours, days and even years trying to adjust your overall outcomes. In the previous several sections there are 3 critical, important and absolutely important things you can do TODAY.

You can do them NOW. And best of all if really only takes a few minutes.

Progress is the name of the game and to get progress you need momentum. Yes, some may win the lottery but most will chip away at progress with no real result to show.

These three items, Staying Hydrated, Strengthening your Mind, and Getting Enough Sleep are all geared both to work together as well as build progress quickly that will lead to other successes in a more rapid fashion.

I understand if this isn't for you. Some may say it's too woo-woo. Some may say its not sexy enough. I can tell you from experience that the little things when stacked together are compounded into something massive.

What do you have to lose?

Try it for 10 days and if you still feel the same, well, you'll be better hydrated at minimum. When you make these 3 deliberate decisions, I see better things happening in your life! That is how the law of attraction works.

How can you possibly manage home and work? I am asked that question all the time. I don't feel like I'm middle aged until I look in the mirror. Checking the scale and seeing a pound or two difference was never a big deal. In my 20's I could just take a deep breath and loose 5 lbs. But guess what? It stacks up. Combine that with a little stress, less sleep and all of the "trade-offs" we make day in and out. The solution is as simple as making a decision, which takes literally just a moment in time.
