How Do You Orange Pill A 4 Year Old?

For the record we are talking about the Crypto Orange Pill or Orange Pilling for the crypto savvy.

We are definitely not referring to the Alprazolam or Clonaxzepam orange pills. We prefer to give our grandson natural remedies.

Bitcoin is the Orange Pill.

And Fait is the Blue Pill.

And I assume Gold would be the Yellow Pill if it was a pill.

The Orange Pill Theory

Bitcoin is the opportunity to free yourself from monetary bondage through knowledge.

In a nutshell the idea is Bitcoin will inevitably become the global reserve asset, while converting (orange pilling) people to believe in the Bitcoin standard.

But how do you or "Bitcoiners" expect this to occur if the vast majority of people still fail to understand what Bitcoin is and truly stands for.

Like all good marketing strategies, you need a good slogan or jingle to capture peoples attention. And Orange Pilling was born.

Note this really applies to all things crypto not just to the Grandad. So I might get side tracked from the Bitcoin narrative, as my creative juices start to flow. Beware Bitcoin maxis, you have been warned.

Turning a Crypto Skeptic Wife into a Crypto Advocate

My wife went from only just tolerating my "gambling" habit to openly discussing crypto with her friends.

It all started with a Coinbase video about the Basic Attention Token and the Brave Browser. Climaxed last year when we realised what we had accumulated. Sorry can't go into details on that one.

So the theme of onboarding friends and family has been a continual theme over the last couple of years.

By the beginning of 2021, we had enough of so called friends contacting us for that hot tip or what did we think of this get rich scheme. So we launched Bragato18 Crypto Consultancy Services. With the aim to help people get started and utilise 4 years of experience skills and knowledge to avoid the many pitfalls.

It had the added benefit of getting rid of the time wasters and the idiot factor, once they realised it was going to cost. Plus if some one actually has to pay (dearly) for something, they are more likely to value it and take it seriously. Something my wife taught me, a ruthless business women in her own way.

But it was only ever meant for the 3rd Degree of Separation. What were we to do with the 2nd Degree of Separation, the family and friends? Can't charge them.

Estate Planning

Not so easy with the keys to your wealth stored on a couple Ledger Nano X's. How do you secure your passwords and recovery phrases but still make it accessible and decipherable for the crypto illiterate who may get the job of administering your estate.

Most of the next generation are too busy living their lives, so it is a big ask to put aside a considerable amount of time to get your head around things.

But then the grandson was born and at 3 years of age was a literal sponge. For his 3rd birthday (Sept 2021) we told his parents that we had a spare Ledger Nano S and wanted to give it to him (and any future siblings he may get blessed with). Our original idea was all the free crypto would be sent to the Nano S and I would slowly introduce him to things crypto. And ultimately he would be able to help the big adults get access.

So far we have tried to setup the Nano S, only to find the screen had a line through the middle and we can't read some of the 24 word recovery phrases:

Back to the manufacturer.

But on a positive note the Grandson wanted to know what the shiny thing was with the little screen. So I showed him how it worked but he quickly lost interest.

Starting The Crypto Winter Day

It is Crypto Winter here, literally. In the morning I still wake just before sunrise, get up do my business, put the heat pack in the microwave for 2 minutes and return to bed for a lie in.

So this morning instead I checked out Coingecko Newsfeed. I know I had banned myself from the Cut and Paste Crypto Media but I had a weak moment. But I did find this interesting piece:
