Complete list of 2048 BIP-39 Seed Recovery Phrase Words
Each word when in an alphabetical list corresponds with a number.
- Abandon is 0001.
- Ability is 0002.
- Able is 0003
- etc. etc. until
- Zebra is 2046
- Zone is 2047
- Zoo is 2048
No word has the same first four letters. So if you know the first four letters of your seed phrase words, you can easily figure out the full word.
Also one may choose to store the corresponding number instead of the recovery phrase word, as in stamping the numbers onto metal plate or writing them down.
There are 29,642,774,844,752,900,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 different combinations when using 24 BIP39 seed words. That is more than all the grains of sand on all the beaches in the world, or so they say. I haven't tried to count them yet.

Origins Of BIP-39 (Updated July 28 2024)
BIP-39 was proposed by Marek Palatinus, Pavol Rusnak, Aaron Voisine, and Sean Bowe in 2013. The aim was to further improve the user-friendliness of hierarchical deterministic (HD) wallets proposed in BIP-32. In a nutshell, it was a way to recover your wallet and all of its accounts using humanly readable mnemonic, rather than a long string of characters.
