It might surprise you, what things can get your Publish0x account restricted or authorship revoked. Especially if you are like me and you only skim read the Terms of Service, when you signed up for the Publish0x platform.
It is only recently that I found out about the menu bar at the bottom of every Publish0x page, when I was researching an article about Publish0x tipping and statistics.
Now the Terms of Service are not where you would expect them to be. They are not under Terms but under FAQ.
So click on the FAQ and it takes you to:
What is Publish0x and How it Works
And it brings up a list of the General Subject Headings
Scroll down to the bottom until you come to:
Platform Rules - Terms Of Service
Offenses That May Get Your Account Restricted:
- Using two or more accounts. Only one account per person, and per internet connection is allowed.
Being only allowed one account is obvious but didn't realise it also applied to "per internet connection"
- Using any kind of automation to tip authors; this includes using bots, macros, etc.
Not sure that automating the tipping process is a biggy, as you can only tip so many times a day and we are talking micropayments
- Spamming the comments to get people to sign up to one service / product or another.
- Spamming the comments. Period. Please do not go around commenting on other peoples articles and ask them to tip your content or follow you.
- Trying to cheat our system in any way. :)
Recently I have noticed that people have been using the comments to promote their referral links, asking to be followed and cross tip etc. They seem to be mainly new people who are not authors (yet) or only recently become an author. I suppose you have to give them the benefit of the doubt, that they just didn't realise it was a no-no thing to do. Hell only found out it is called spamming, and you may get your account restricted.
I started by replying that it was bad karma to use some-one else's post to promote their stuff but leaving their comment there. Sometimes they removed the comment themselves.
But there are 2 other options if you feel that the spamming is deliberate or blatant spamming.
- Block the User
- Report the User, this brings up a Report Comment window. Select Content is Spam or Low Quality from drop down menu. Then give some details about your report. If Publish0x agrees it is spam, they will remove the comment.
Offenses That May Get Your Authorship Revoked:
- Copy / pasting someone else's content. Be that articles, images or videos. Embedding videos from Youtube and using CC0 content (publicly available images from pixabay.com for example) is OK.
I am sure no-one does that.
- E-Begging posts, aka asking for donations OR asking for tips. Sorry, but we cannot allow these. If you publish posts asking for donations, or if you create posts where you ask users to tip you or to trade tips, your account may also be banned.
E-begging. I see it a lot in the comments of other peoples posts more than in the actual posts. But now that it has got a cool name (E-Begging), I will be more aware and on the look out for it.
- Publishing spun content or content of very low value. We are committed to hosting only content that other people would like to read or watch. A good test to figure out whether or not you are breaking this rule is to answer the following question: Would you like to read what you've just written and are about the publish? If the answer is no, please don't publish the piece on Publish0x.
One type of post that irks me, is where some-one just asks a question. Instead of doing their own research and answering their own question in their post. It just comes across as lazy. If you want an answer then there are forums like Reddit for answering your questions.
- Using your blog / post on Publish0x as a landing page for a shady offer.
Come across a few of those. Luckily the Publish0x community self regulates and quickly calls out any scammy posts. They disappear quickly.
- Publishing anything illegal.
mmmm, not sure what they mean.
- Reposting the same articles multiple times over time.
Shame there wasn't a limit on how many times the same subject gets posted, "multiple times over times."
The End
I hope you found this post informative and interesting. Or at least you now know where to find the Publish0x Terms of Service and have a better understanding of what not to do on Publish0x.
As always I have enjoyed doing the research and putting it all together. In fact I only found this information, while doing research for a previous article.
Feel free to post comments, as getting feedback is how we learn. As a publisher all feedback is greatly appreciated.
Or a thumbs up if you enjoyed your read.
Stay safe.
