Coinbase announced that its Coinbase Wallet mobile wallet can now be used easily through DApps onexisting desktop web browsers .
On website, the US company said that Coinbase Wallet users can now connect to decentralized applications (DApps) through a desktop web browser thanks to its new open-source WalletLink feature .
“ WalletLink acts as a secure bridge between Coinbase Wallet and your desktop browser. To get started, all you need to do is scan a WalletLink QR code with Coinbase Wallet . You can then use DApps, while protecting your funds on your mobile wallet app. ” Coinbase wrote .
While the browser integrated into the Coinbase Wallet mobile application already allowed access to the decentralized web via its mobile, the CoinbaseLink extension offers the possibility of connecting the wallet to DApps compatible on the desktop versions of the browsers Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Brave or Opera.
At the moment, only 4 decentralized applications are compatible with WalletLink: Compound , dYdX , IDEX and Maker . However, integrating the WalletLink solution would take a few minutes for developers and should be quickly added to the majority of existing DApps.
Last week, Coinbase acquired the custody service from the Xapo company . The California crypto-broker now retains more than $ 7 billion in digital assets for its clients.
