Today I aimed to scale a moor
I call in clouds to hide my paths
I made my way into the grey
The silence wraps me as I walk
I raise my breath, A biting gale
It nips the flesh
And stalls the step
I grit my teeth, lean in and push
Each step lifts me to my goal
The weary sheep look on and nod
My Friends, the sheep!
They council me through winters harsh
The only friends I’ve come to trust
All at once the weather lifts
The skys they clear
And O behold the views
Released
The pilgrim just this once may pass
I have the length of time itself
To be alone and with my friends
The sheep
